Malka Moshkovits (they/them) is a Toronto-based director and writer currently in their third year of the Bachelor of Film and Media Production program at Humber Polytechnic. Their work centers on intimate, character-driven stories, often exploring mental health, identity, and queer coming-of-age experiences.
Malka has directed several short films, including If We Meet Again and Pandemonium (Humber Polytechnic), as well as their self-produced projects Identity and the upcoming What the Waves Remember and Nothing More. While directing and writing are their primary focuses, they've gained experience with many on-set roles, contributing to their collaborative approach to filmmaking.
Driven by a desire to make others feel seen, Malka describes film as a personal lifeline, one that they hope to extend to audiences through work that creates connection, understanding, and hope.
Outside of filmmaking, Malka enjoys photography, knitting, and writing, and draws inspiration from their Jewish and queer identity. But, most of all, they love being around the people closest to them and finding the little moments of happiness and hope.
